What is Pilates?
Pilates has been around since the 1920s. Created by Joseph Pilates and passed down through a few of his students. The method’s staying power is a testament to its effectiveness.
Pilates is a method designed to strengthen you from your core out while improving your flexibility and stamina. These components are what make this fitness training program unique.
Our focus is complete functionality for your entire body with this well-rounded full-body training method. It progresses with your current fitness level and can adapt from gentle therapeutic exercises you might see in physical therapy to exercises that challenge some of the toughest athletes.
What are the benefits of Pilates?
Pilates is good for building a stronger core. But, your core isn’t just your waistline or 6 pack ab muscles. It’s so much more. Pilates includes training how your muscles work together to stabilize your body while you move. It helps improve your posture through strength and better flexibility. This method helps your body move better with greater strength and ease.
Is Pilates like Yoga?
I think at times, instructors in fitness facilities might mix the methods while teaching classes. But there are definite differences. Pilates often uses more dynamic movements and different breathing patterns than Yoga. I would say this doesn’t make one method better than the other just different. Some people are more drawn to Yoga and others to Pilates.
